Grass Analysis:
Testing grass before cutting provides a key decision-making tool when targeting a High Sugar Content and Low Nitrogen Content at harvest time.
A sugar content of 3% or greater is critical to silage ensilability. In good growing conditions grass crops utilise 2 units of Nitrogen per day but in poor weather Nitrogen uptake is slower. Low sugar levels often coincide with High Nitrogen levels which has a negative impact on the fermentation process. The only way to ensure that your grass is suitable for cutting is by availing of grass testing services.
Grass Nutritional Test:
Pre-Harvest Tests:
Testing grass, maize and whole-crop silages provides the knowledge required to optimise feeding of animals during the winter period. Assessment of silages and other forages provides a feeding value which can be used to identify the level of supplementation required. It also allows for the identification of any problems or deficiencies that have the potential to impact animal health.
